Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the Curt four-pole wiring harness on our 2023 Mazda CX-5. Now the biggest reason why you would want to install a four-pole wiring harness on your CX-5 is so that you can tow a trailer. I'd recommend a smaller trailer. You'd have to check in your owner's manual to see what your vehicle is capable of towing. But this is gonna get the lighting functions from your CX-5 to your trailer lights so that you can safely travel down the road. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Mazda CX-5- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness here on our 2018 Mazda CX-5. So here you can see, we have the trailer connector secured to the safety-chain loops using the dust cap that comes in the kit here. So the dust cap, and again, it serves two functions, it allows us to secure the trailer connector and also helps protect the pins from any water getting in there causing any corrosion issues and affecting our lights. So the key connector provides us with a 4-way flat trailer connector. That's gonna be the most common, chances are most trailers that we're gonna be towing with our CX-5 are gonna have that type of connector. This one is gonna transmit the basic signals that we need to remain legal while out on the road. more

Hey, everybody. How's it goin' Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the CURT T-connector trailer wiring harness here on our 2021 Mazda CX-5. So a trailer wiring harness is just one of the few components we're gonna need to tow a trailer with our vehicle here. Now, what the trailer wiring harness does is it transfers the lights from the vehicle to our trailer. Now, some of our larger trailers are gonna block the lights on the vehicle here when we're traveling out on the road, therefore we need a way to still signal on the motorists and let them know what we're doing so we can get to our destination safe and sound. So this kit here comes with a standard four-pole flat trailer connector. more

In my opinion, the Tekonsha does come out slightly better than the CURT and here's a couple of reasons why. The Tekonsha does have a smaller module box which fits better behind your paneling, it's just easier to hide it and I liked that it does have the tab here at the top, so if there's an open stud or if you have an extra self-tapping screw you could attach it with the tab up there on the top instead of just with the adhesive pad that comes included. more

Hi there, Mazda owners. Today, on your 2020 Mazda CX-5, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install CURT's four-pole flat trailer connector vehicle wiring harness.And this is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. It is a four-pole flat trailer connector that is designed to live inside the vehicle. When you're ready to use it, it drapes out the back. What I like about this is that it protects your harness from the elements when it's not in use, and then when you're ready to use it, you can just pull it out. Some people seem to think that hanging it out over the back here is going to cause damage to the wiring, but the weatherstripping there does have plenty of space in it, to where it's not going to crush the wiring, and the weather strip actually kind of clamps it just enough to hold it in place, to keep it from sliding around. more

Today, on our 2017 Mazda CX-5, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118746.So, here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It's going to provide us with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, so we all the required lights to get down the road safely. Like, our taillights, brake lights and our turn signals.Whenever we want to use it, we can just simply drop it out the rear hatch and plug it up to our trailer. Whenever we want to store it, we can open up our hatch and we can store it underneath the cargo area by our spare tire.Whenever we do want to use it, you just want to make sure you stay away from the latch mechanism itself, and the weather stripping is going to provide enough cushion to where it won't damage the wire.Our wiring kit is custom designed for our Mazda. We're not going to have to cut or splice any of our factory wires. We're just going to have a simple T-connector that's going to go in-line with our factory taillights. more

When you're ready to use it, pull it out, run it right over this rubber seam on your threshold. You want to make sure you stay away from any connection points, and you see we're going to have plenty of extra wire to get to our trailer. more

We have our four-pole flat already installed on our vehicle. It's going to tuck away nicely in our spare tire compartment, and it's going to be ready for us when we're ready to tow. We just pull it out and close our hatch and we can hook up to our trailer. Now, our four-pole flat end here is going to give us all the required lights on our trailer. It's going to give us our clearance lights, brake lights, and turn signals. Now, our wiring does come with a converter box which is going to protect our vehicle. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2016 Mazda CX5. Here we have the Hopkins. This is going to be part number HM11143165. Now here in the middle we have the CURT, which is going to be part number C56310. Finally, over here on the end we have the Tekonsha, which is going to be part number 118563. Now here we have the CURT installed on our Mazda, but they're all going to give us the same end result. They're going to give us a four-pole flat trailer connector and they're all going to stay on the inside of our vehicle. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5- Video
Today on our 2016 Maxda CX-5, we'll be installing the tow-ready T-One vehicle wiring harness, part number 118568. Now to better assist us in our installation of our wiring harness here, we'll be using part number 18136 and 18144 available on our website. These are couple brackets that we can use to externally mount our 4-pole flat trailer connector to our hitch. Here's our 4-pole flat connector installed on our vehicle. The reason you want one of these is so you could tow a standard trailer and have all the lightening functions required by law. This is a standard 4-pole flat. We have our turn signals, we have our tail lights and we'll have our brake lights. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2015 Mazda CX-5 C56011- Video
Today on our 2015 Mazda CX5 we'll be taking a look at and installing the curt T connector with inaudible 00:00:06 trailer connector. Part number C56011. We're ready to use our wire harness. It's going to be really easy to find. All you're going to need to do is gain access to that spare tire compartment, pull out your wire, and run it right over the back. Close it up and then close down our hatch over the top, making sure that it isn't in the center where that latch assembly's going to hook up right here and over the top of the weather stripping. Now, the weather stripping's going to be thick enough that it isn't going to damage your wire in any way. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video
Today on our 2013 Mazda CX5 we'll be installing the Tow Ready T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number 118563. Now to use our new four pole harness, take our four pole harness and run it towards the center of the vehicle and down to our hitch or accessory. Be careful, stay away from the latches, pinching it off in the latch can harm the wire; however, the weather stripping is thick enough that we can simply close the rear hatch on the wire. Then once we're finished we'll simply roll it up and store it in the rear cargo area here on the driver's side. To begin our install we'll first open up the rear cargo door and remove the rear cargo liner. Next we'll go ahead and remove the rear threshold. To remove the rear threshold, there are two push pin fasteners we'll have to remove first. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Mazda CX-5- Video
Okay, today on this 2014 Mazda CX5, we're going to install part number C56011 from Curt. This is a Curt T connector, vehicle-wiring harness with a 4 pole flat. Now we're going to install our wire harness. We need to get inside the vehicle so we will go ahead and open the back hatch and we'll go ahead and remove the floor coverings, as well as the threshold. It looks like there's two plastic fasteners. Okay, we'll go ahead and remove the rivet right here, this plastic rivet, so we will pull out the center and then the rest of it comes right out. It's just a steady pull straight up, will release it from those snaps. There it is. One is stuck so we'll just use a trim-panel tool to remove it. Out next step is to work with the side panel here, so we're going to undo this fastener and just pull it out a little bit so we'll get some extra working room to work our wires inside. It might be a good idea to go ahead and remove the phone core support inside as well. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Mazda CX-5 118563- Video
All right, today on our 2014 Mazda CX-5, we're going to install part number 118563. To start off our install, we're going to have to open up the back hatch and get access to the wiring behind the tail lights, so we're going to have to remove some interior body panels to do this. First off, we'll remove the floor coverings to get down to the spare tire. Next we'll go ahead and remove yourthreshold. Next we'll go ahead and remove the foam inserts around the spare tire. Now to remove the threshold, there will be two plastic fasteners, one on each end, we have to remove. Working from the bottom and prying from the sides, we'll go ahead and work it free, then we can go ahead and loosen up the side panels. There will be a small plastic fastener we have to remove, we'll do this on both sides. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 Mazda CX-5 C56011- Video
Today on the 2013 Mazda CX-5, we're going to install part number C56011 from Curt. Now, our wiring harness installs right behind the tail lights so we're going to remove some interior panels. The first up, we'll go ahead and open up the hatch. Then we'll take the spare tire cover and fold it back. Now, in the inside edge, there will be two plastic fasteners that we have to remove. Then we'll go ahead and remove the threshold. A steady pressure pulling up on the bottom edge pulling straight up will get to release in the clips. more
